Around 5 years ago I was buying my first ‘high-end’ foundation. This was a big deal to me back then, because I wanted to make sure I was buying the perfect one. I ended up trying out the Givenchy Eclat Matissime and since then I always have loved their foundations! I have also tried out their Photo Perfexion foundation and I was not disappointed at all. Last spring they launched a completly new line called Matissime Velvet, where they focus on matte skin with a beautiful texture and a smooth, glossy finish. I was very curious if I would like these foundations as much as I did the others, especially since it was for a normal to combination skin! Givenchy – Matissime Velvet Fluid SPF20 Foundation – 4 Mat Beige –  €50,50

The light and liquidy texture of MATISSIME VELVET leaves a luminous and unifying matte finish on the skin that preserves its fine texture and natural glow. The complexion stays matte, luminous, smooth and perfectly even all day long. 

I always apply matte liquid foundation with a good coverage with a damp beautyblender. I tried the same application technique with this foundation and it gave a very beautiful result. In this way I can easily build up the coverage and it still looks really natural! You definitely don’t need to use a primer with this foundation, since it truly will stay on your skin all day long. It has a medium coverage, which you can build up to full coverage as I mentioned before. I almost didn’t need to use concealer as well, every blemish on my skin was perfectly covered!

Givenchy – Matissime Velvet Compact Foundation – €54,50

An extremely soft and velvety powder that neutralizes shine to reveal a lastingly matte complexion. True color and a lightweight sensation for a natural result and absolute comfort.

For an even more matte finish and/or high coverage Givenchy recommends to replace regular powder with the Matissime Velvet Compact. I never use a compact foundation on its own, but always in combination with a liquid foundation. That’s why I was also glad to read Givenchy’s recommendation on this. I use powder to finish and set my make-up, because during the day it always gets extra oily. I really love the powder, especially for touch-ups on the go! It comes in a beautiful sleek glossy packaging which makes it so easy to take with you. I have become so used to having it in my bag, that I get disappointed when I forgot it in another bag or at home. The Matissime Velvet Fluid foundation in combination witht the Compact Foundation, will give you the most perfect and flawless matte look!
